Vivek Kumavat Indian, b. 1977

Born in 1977, Vivek Kumavat completed his graduation in Fine Arts from the Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai. The artist works on the theme of the majestic Indian bull. It also plays a strong role in our Indian mythology with Lord Shiva, known as Nandi. The form of the bull indicates power and strength. The artist works mainly in acrylic on canvas with a patch work technique creating a collage like background of Indian Gods and Goddesses, taking inspiration from the Indian miniatures. The final painting is created in multiple layers, starting from a minimalistic & colourful background layer followed by a stencil like composition of Gods & Godesses meticulously painted on it. Further the artwork is centered around a focal object which is the "Nandi" filled with detailed images of stories from the Indian mythology silimar to the miniature technique from the past.

The artist believes that the magnetic structure of a bull decorated meticulously with ornaments in his artworks attracts positive aura. The intricate details and the bright colours such as red, orange, blue etc in each of his paintings is what make his paintings unique and visually very appealing.

Kumavat has exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions in India and internationally such as Jenhangir Art Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, Singapore affordable art fair, London affordable art fair and many more. The artist currently works and lives in Mumbai.
