Art Mumbai 2025: The Infinite Within: Modern Abstraction in India

This year, at Art Mumbai, Art & Beyond presents The Infinite Within: Modern Abstraction in India. The showcase traces the evolution of abstraction as one of the most vital expressions of India’s post-independence modernism.Featuring works by Sadanand Bakre, Avinash Chandra, Bimal Das Gupta, Biren De, V.S. Gaitonde, Ram Kumar, Sohan Qadri, and others, the exhibition reflects the depth, diversity, and enduring resonance of abstraction within Indian art.Through these artworks, The Infinite Within reveals how these artists transformed the language of modernism into a personal and spiritual pursuit—one that balances intuition and geometry, silence and expression, form and formlessness.
